Interviews at the GFCC and CCON

Ghostbusters Interview at the GFCC / CCON – (Video)

The Ghostbusters were at the German Comic-Con Dortmund 2024. Jacky made sure to drag me in front of the camera and throw me into the freezing cold water. This is the second interview I’ve ever done. But I enjoyed it and would definitely do it again :)

I’m with the Ghostbusters:
Hello everyone, hi, how are you? I’m doing great, and how are you all? Wonderful! We’re keeping the Comic-Con here ghost-free and slime-free, and so far, we’re doing a pretty good job.

To be honest, it all starts in the morning. The entire day is just a fantastic event, an experience, and it’s a lot of fun to stand with friends and bring the world of the Ghostbusters closer to everyone. And that’s really the best part.

Why this specific area (Ghostbusters)? For many of us, it’s actually a piece of childhood. It is for me as well. We have this fan group, We Are Ghostbusters Germany, which was founded in 2018. In 2019, we had our first small events, and we’ve worked our way up to the German Film and Comic-Con. Now, we’re proud to present our booth here, aiming to bring the world of ghostbusters closer to everyone, whether large or small.

Actually, we attend many events across Germany. Last year, for example, we were also at the Comic-Con in Stuttgart. As you mentioned, we’ll be at Gamescom again this year. We’re going to rock it, and we’re also likely to be at the Weekend of Hell in Oberhausen.

We will also be in Essen and keep the Grugahalle ghost-free!

A lot of the stuff here is actually self-made. We have three 3D printers and blueprints, as you can see here (video), for the proton pack. This one is from the company Hasbro. It’s also lit up, as you can see, and it’s actually modeled after the Ghostbusters: Afterlife film. Later, you’ll also see many proton packs inspired by Ghostbusters I and Ghostbusters II. There are small but fine details that we fans pay a lot of attention to. As mentioned, much of it is truly built and crafted with love.

Absolutely. I think we all agree that you should definitely watch Ghostbusters: Afterlife or Ghostbusters: Legacy. The story continues after more than forty years with the Spengler family, a new generation of Ghostbusters who have taken up the mantle quite well. And recently, Ghostbusters: Empi was also released. I’ll spoil a bit—hope people forgive me. In this one, we’re back in New York, keeping it ghost-free. So definitely, a film recommendation from me.

That’s no problem at all. We actually handle almost everything, whether it’s children’s birthday parties—yes, you can smile about it—we also do film fairs, comic cons, private events, corporate events, anniversaries, and so on. Whatever you need, we’re there and ready.

Cosplayers Against Bullying – Interview at the GFCC / CCON – (Video)

When we visited the German Film and Comic-Con 2024 in Dortmund, we noticed the booth of Cosplayers Against Bullying. You can learn more in the video from Cosplayers Against Bullying.

We are here with our initiative, Cosplayers Against Bullying. We want to raise awareness that, unfortunately, bullying exists even in the cosplay community. We aim to empower those affected by making people aware of the issue and encouraging more tolerance. Instead of immediately gossiping or speaking negatively, we hope people will learn to accept others as they are and recognize that everyone is special and valuable in their own way.

We definitely have a binder explaining how to recognize when bullying is happening. We also plan to include informational materials about where to find support, so that those affected can learn more and receive help. Our main goal is to offer support, especially to those who are experiencing bullying.

We are on Instagram under Cosplayers Against Bullying, where we regularly post information in our stories and posts.

Our Review of the German Film and Comic-Con 2024 Dortmund

The Comic-Con (CCON) in Dortmund was a lot of fun. There was plenty to see and experience. Unfortunately, I must also mention that the Spring Comic-Con was quite small. There was one hall for meet and greets, a main hall with the stage, and a hall with booths. Outside, there were food trucks. Despite the size of the convention, it was a very enjoyable day. We met many cosplayers, had great conversations with the booth operators, and enjoyed the good weather.

Livestream from the Comic-Con Dortmund 2024

We broadcasted a livestream from the Comic-Con Dortmund 2024 on Twitch and YouTube. You can watch it in full length on YouTube or simply scroll down.
Technical setup: I had two power banks with me, which powered a tablet with a very good LTE antenna. For streaming at the Comic-Con in Dortmund, I used a GoPro Hero 12 with a direct connection to the RTMP server. There was just one issue: I forgot to deactivate the pause mode after entry. However, it’s not a big problem; I uploaded the stream version from the GoPro Hero to the YouTube channel.
